Brief note on this wine, as it had already been a very looooong day of Napa Cab palate destruction. So, it is actually saying something that this wine was able to rise to the top and make itself noticed on the very first sip. Earthy orange peel with bing cherry, black and red raspberry, soil, and some bark. A great combination of bright and red-fruited, with a more brooding earthy element; all supported with an undercarriage of burnt citrus oil/peel and acid. Medium-to-full bodied overall, finding its most lush moments on the mid-palate. Finished with increased speed to best hold the fruit together, but never losing sight of its deeper tonalities as well.
95-96+ points. Though I think time in bottle will certainly enhance its complexity and sense of layered, delineated flavoring, it is firing off pretty nicely at the moment. A bigger Burgundy without being heavy. More my style. Probably less of a wine for those who crave bracing acidity and high-pitched, falsetto zing.
