  • Decanted 2 hours and then drunk over the following 2-3 hours. When I first decanted aromas of cured meat dominated, but receded to the background with time and more blackberry & floral elements came to the foreground. Towards the end started getting some pine tar and herbs.

Medium/full bodied, medium acidity and medium tannins. The mouthfeel was quite velvety with the tannins providing some structure. Quite long finish. The palate was dominated by dark fruit with some minerality but only a little tertiary development, so the complexity of the palate didn't quite live up to the nose.

This is a very good wine but like sid_loves_wine I felt this lacked some wow factor. I suspect this will improve & gain complexity, so it might be worth picking up another bottle to try in a few years.

  • Interesting bottle. As though behind a woolly veil. Needs time.

  • I thought I should take a bottle out of storage to see how this is getting on, the label says drink from 5-15 years. Decanted for a couple of hours. Deep purple in colour but catches the light well, medium to full body. Nice red fruits, and a little floral on the nose, the palate is a bit tight still, but has some good berry fruit, some medium grain tannin, medium acidity and a good finish. You could drink this now, but I think a few more years will see this in a better place with plenty of time ahead

  • At first very animistic and introvert through Coravin, now a few months later and with a cork that was very easy to pull this seems much more aireated and ready. Meaty and floral, but more dried roses and withered violers. The fruit is pretty lively at the same time - cherry, currant and blackberries almost fruit-pastilly. Also mineral and slightly peppery, with good acidity, slowly building tannins and medium body texture. Very good! Hoping this will last for 20+ as it is my daughter’s birth year.

  • A wild nose of funk, bramble fruits, tart fruits, and some bacon fat. With some air, the florality (violets) and purple aromas come through. Very complex
Medium+ tannins that have a good grip but aren’t unpleasant even though the wine is young
    High acid
    Outstanding length
This is drinking extremely well now, and one shouldn’t feel guilty about opening up a bottle this young, but will undoubtedly improve significantly in 5-15 years. Carafe/decant it to let it breathe
Don’t serve it too cold because one will lose the aromatics
