PnP. ABV 13.5%. Subtle nose, more dark soils notes than flower notes. Seems to be in more advanced stage than ‘17 tasted recently. Round, smooth, and silky mouthfeel, very Volnay. Very fine tannins, hardly noticeable despite its youth. Riper than ‘17. Good density and length for a 1er Cru. Quality wise fairly similar to ‘17 vintage just not as open. Another good showing, clearly underrated and under-priced.

This pours very light ruby in the glass. The nose is expressive, finessed and complex. Aromas are of ginger, grapefruit zest, raspberry leaf, cranberry, bright red cherry, leafy undergrowth, wet tilled soil, and twigs. The palate is very elegant entering on bright red fruit, with medium minus tannin and medium plus leafy and red fruited acid. The finish lingers nicely on grapefruit zest and leafy red fruit. Very classical, very volnay. Love this.
Excellent.

There’s some dark fruit and a hint of mocha at the start but gains more red fruit and a tart character with air. Nice wine.
