Deep dark claret in color. Nose of dark cherries, boysenberry, cedar. Such a lovely wine that pairs perfectly with grilled steak to dark chocolate salted caramel! Love it!

This wine is started to turn to the darker side. I remember in its youth it was blackberry cassis and actually quite a bit of blueberry and purple fruit. Dusty tannins as classic for the AVA. Very much a classic old Napa style that really draws me in. This one is a change to the sweeter more youthful fruit and dusty stiff tannins that I remembered before. Darker fruit, cigar ash, figs and plums. A hint of baking chocolate. Worn saddle leather. Finishes with resolving softer but still dusty tannins and muted black pepper. For those who like the dark side. This wine has arrived. It came short of truffle and mushroom but I can see it heading that way in 4-5 yr or so more than likely. Structure is still very present as are all the wines made by this producer.

Its been a year, I couldn't wait. Very elegant now but still lots of aging potential. Almost sorry I opened it, still has so much potential, but since it is open I am just have to drink it.

Previous note from Jan 2022 is spot on. This wine is nails. This is the epitome of a balanced Rutherford AVA wine.

At it's peak now. Tannins quite soft. Fruit at it's maturity. Won't improve so drink up.
