  • This is a small appellation around the tiny village of Chorey, at the foot of the hill of Corton. Drouhin have 1.3 hectares here, and the average age of the vines is 53 years. Let's see what it can bring to my tongue and my brain. 2 hours in the decanter.

This is affordable ( 25 € ) wine and it has everything that it's supposed to have for this very cheap price ( remember this is Burgundy!). Red cherry, cranberry ( nice), blackberry and a load of spice from the beginning to the end, that is pretty long.
    Vigorous acidity and grippy tannins
Smell - very floral with red cherry. Very delicate, finesse, but at the same time too weak.

Third glass and I have to downgrade this wine from 89 to 88
Acidity and spice are too much present up front.

  • Needed two hours in the decanter to get itself together. The palate shifted back and forth between showing earthier elements, soil and truffle, and then more fruit forward, almost confected / smarties / vitamin red fruit. Good acidity. Not much aromatically - some earth. Overall I can’t say I enjoyed the flavor profile. Maybe I would like this with some more age and this is in an awkward spot?

  • This was a surprise. I drank my other bottles too soon (and thought they were very mediocre). Gave this a 3 hour decant and it bloomed into an elegant, delicious Burgundy.

  • Nice, tasty, light-bodied. Somewhat floral nose with, and I mean this in a good way, a distinct suggestion of red Hawaiian Punch. Good value.
