Quick notes from a public tasting. Reds double decanted about 90 minutes in advance.
good young red and brick color, a quiet and calm nose with hints of cherries, with time a dazzling and intricate web becomes just barely evident- like a thousand stars in the sky almost covered by a thin layer of clouds, on the palate ripe plums and cherries, bracing chalky tannins with distinct mineral notes, dried herbs and spices of particular intensity in beautiful layers, this is far more closed than it may seem- and here the greatness of the future is quite evident, this will not be a big bruiser of a vintage as so many seem to want these days- but it needs at least a decade in the cellar and I believe in time it will be magnificently elegant and detailed.

More masculine and classic aromas with concentrated red berries, vigorous rose aromas, pronounced mushrooms, asiatic spices, nutshells and with clear and good saltiness.
Pretty rich wine with classic nicely expressed and this delicate middle part that often characterizes Vietti and Luca Currado wine making. Classic great fruit feel of red berries, light cigar, mushrooms, something mint that seduces. Good structure and complexity.
Great balance between the firm tannins and the surprisingly good acidity for the vintage. Long and lovely finish. One of the best wines of the year. 95 points.

7 Days in Italy II; 2/17/2019-2/23/2019: Showing some rustic barrel tones to the nose, a dramatic shift in structure and concentration. Rose and lead pencil, high ripe tannin.

2018 Visit to Vietti (Castiglione Falletto): Like the other 2015 Cru only bottled last week but not showing any bottle shock. A nose of dark spices, new leather, wet dark soil, balsamico and black and red cherries. In the mouth, similar flavours, particularly earthy and spicy, with graphite minerality. Immediately on this first 2015, more fruit intensity and structure than for the 2014s. Very long.

Barrel and Bottle Tasting with Luca Currado (Vietti Winery, Castiglione Falletto): The nose was dark, with balsamic spiced fruit, cherry, ripe raspberry, and sweet dusty florals. On the palate, I found velvety textures giving way to zesty, tart dark red fruits with savory spice, minerals and hints of herbs. It was intense and inward, yet with incredible persistence. The finish was long and saturating with dark fruits, minerals and fine tannin. The 2015 Brunate delivered a powerfully structured yet also perfectly balanced expression.
