  • This was good and still very young; I thought the warmer 09 vintage might be a bit more approachable and while this was drinkable, it was definitely still tight and young. Red fruited and very floral with classic tar notes and tobacco; lots of structure, but good fruit density. Good now with a rich meal, but will be better in 5+ years.

  • Wonderful now, with that uniqueness that Piemonte provides. In a blind tasting, for a minute I could wonder, is this a burg? But no. It’s not, so then what. It’s early in it’s mid life, showing visual signs as such, silky tannins, wonderful finish, it’s 20 years since we were so fortunate to share lunch at the vineyard during an awful hail disrupted fall (which was great for truffles). I’m best putting my wine memories in a context and here that visit which introduced Vietti to us provides visual and gustatory memories that make oenotravel so wonderful. Ok, enough, find it and love it.

  • Followed over 2 nights. Intense and concentrated, with big drying tannins that faded on night 2. Dark crimson color. Intense palate, red fruits? With won mint an spice notes adding complexity. Lengthy finish. Enjoyable but expect this to continue to improve.

  • Generous and fleshy, with ripe cherry fruit strewn with iron. There’s floral nuance, some tar and a little bitter chocolate. Buried just below the surface is ample structure and flavours linger for a very long time.

  • Tasted @ big Italy tasting. Fairly accessible nose of dark plums, tar, crushed flowers and a touch of smoke. It's full-bodied with medium+ acidity and medium+ tannin. Long finish. Definitley one of the better Barolos of the vintage but still not exactly up there with the best vintages. But on this level of quality it's splitting hair..
