Sweet and sour cherry fruit on the palate with lively acidity and good persistence. While no longer a young wine, at 25+ years of age this has probably just landed on its drinking plateau, and based on this bottle it could remain at this level for another 10-15 years. I’m enjoying this on a sunny Tuesday afternoon 🍷👍
This is drinking well - a glass from a bottle opened at dinner on Christmas Eve last night, this has black & red fruit on the nose, with sweet & sour cherry on the palate. Good acidity.
No clue how long this might last - I wouldn't necessarily describe it as young at this point, but it's not showing a lot of maturity either. Could very well be a 40 year wine.

Joyfully consumed at PP, a local S. NJ gem BYO with my 2 sons for their birthdays, and 2 friends. This benefited from a 6 hour decant in a wide mouth glass pitcher then back into the bottle. Much more open than previous bottles and showing masculine middle aged nebbiolo attributes. Red to orange, autumn colors w/ aged cherry, not quite ripe dark berry, mushroomy, fall leaves, faint flowery roses, and a little bit of fresh asphalt. This time in I found some welcoming bottle sweetness, mouth watering acidity carrying the base of cherry fruit along with old wood barrel flavors for a lengthy time until dissipating. This is a very young wine and I believe only a glimpse of what power it's holding back because it got better in the glass to the last sip. Paired well w/ dry aged filet and savory crispy milkweed buds. This Brunate was slightly more substantial than the 99 Clos de Vougeot Bertrand Ambroise that it followed. Both were performers tonight.

I should have known better, but this was only decanted for a very short time before we started to drink it. Smells great right from the start, but tight in the mouth, not unsurprisingly. Darker fruit tones, some licorice/mint and earth accents. Saved about half a bottle for the next night. On day two it had fleshed out a little but was still reserved. The last glass was the best. Based on this bottle and the 8 hour decanting the last bottle received, make sure this gets a long decant.
Decanted for about 8 hours. This was the best bottle I have had of this wine, despite a beaten up, old moldy label. Previous bottles never seemed to open, and came across as a little muddled, if that makes sense. This one seemed more focused, balanced and complex. I served this blind to a few friends and they all thought the wine was much younger than it is. Where the Giacosa was more red fruited, this is all darker tones. One of my favorite wines of the evening.
