Emmerich Knoll - Three decades of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner (Restaurant Zum alten Markt, Munich): Glass: Gabriel Standard Tasting note is based on usually two different bottles. All bottles were coming straight out of the winery cellar in pristine condition. Clear, pale golden color. Clean, fresh and youthful nose with lots of stone fruit. On the palate lots of salty mineral mixed with some rather exotic, ripe fruit. Good tension and grip, balanced. Good length. For me still too young, give it a few more years to fully shine. 92+

Happy birthday Riesling (Justin's, Logan Square, Chicago IL): This was decanted in the fridge for a few hours and it really blossomed with deep tones of saline, pears, apples, crushed rocks, flint, white flowers, stone fruits, and peaches. There is a lot of purity and layering to the tones that melds together beautifully already. The Medium/full bodied feel is balanced and poised with tart, high acidity. This is a tremendous Riesling already and there is more room for it to grow. This will need the better part of 3-5+ years to get to its early mature stage.

Tasted next to 2017 Knoll Riesling Smaragd Loibenberg. More depth on the nose - herbal, mineral, cool, brooding, yellow stone fruit, hints of flowers and exotic fruit. On the palate very intense and lively with wonderful acidity and a great mineral spine. Great concentration of fruit, powerful and delicate at the same time. Lots of energy and great length. Impressive. 94-95+
