Medium gold in the glass. There's a distinct burnt rubber smell right after opening, but most of it blows off after half an hour. The nose is floral (white flowers?) with a ton of juicy sour citrus like grapefruit and lime... just smelling it makes my mouth water.
The palate is waxy and has high acid. But it's not quite as enamel-eating as it is when it's young. The waxy characteristic presents more like beeswax than lanolin, I think. There's also a lot of minerality, much more so than the other Lauer GGs I've tried. Just a really well-balanced wine when you consider that the fruit, rubber, minerality, and acidity are all perfectly in tune.
I'm sure this will continue to develop complexity throughout the years. I don't regret opening this now as it's showing well, but I'll wait another three to five to open my next one. Stellar QPR @ $50ish.

This always seems to have the edge for me in lauer’s GG line up, beautiful nose of mineral with citrus and orchard skin notes, palate is clean and crisp, energetic yet elegant and a really long salivating finish

I offer this a measured “very nice”. I opened this by mistake while not paying close attention and assuming I was grabbing a Kupp Kabinett or something. With my first sips I was like wait a second. Not exactly the bottle I was planning to crack open to watch Tiger King with. I had this immediately following some basic Donnhoff and clearly this shoveled shame in comparison. However, on its own a day later, I found it to be “very nice” with a moderately dense mid palate and some tense honey dew and under ripe Fall fruits high tones. A pleasing finish makes this a delight but for me not necessarily begging for a special meal.

From ayl, schonfels, Saar. Mineral, mouthwatering acidity, fine and showing undescribable nuance from other fass #.
