  • A pretty solid effort here . Dark in color with good ripe fruits, unmistakably a cab sauv wine on the nose with nice peppery notes, dark fruits. The oak was present in its upbringing for sure but the wine owns the oak and is well balanced and very enjoyable. The tannins are round yet firm and has all the hallmarks of a very good wine. a pretty good 90-91 wine from us. Drinks well now but will last.

  • Dark purple. Blackberry jam, cassis, chocolate and licorice on the nose. Full-bodied with soft tannins, rich fruit and balancing acidity. Long aftertaste. Close to a good new world cab in style. To pair with soft cheese and grilled beaf steaks or fillet. Now-2015.

  • Even better this time. Very dark ruby in color, with an attractive and refined nose of ink, cedar, dark cherries and eucalypt. Med-full bodied with excellent tannins, rich fruit and balancing acidity. Very Bordeaux-like but in a modern style. Long aftertaste. One of the best cabernet sauvignons Greece has ever produced. World class. It more than justyfies its 30+ euros retail price. Expected to keep drinking nicely for the next 5 years or even further.

  • Cava Amethystos, by Kostas Lazaridis from the Drama Region, is probably Greece's best Cabernet Sauvignon and one of the best international varietal reds the country produces, with an amazingly consistent level of quality between vintages. That said, the 2004 is to me this wine's best vintage since the magnifficent 2001 and 1999.
Dark purple. Magnifficent black cherry, blackberry, roast meat and menthol aromas on the nose. Full-bodied and powerful, with firm tanins, generous fruit and high acidity in perfect balance. Long finish. Enjoyable now but with potential to improve over the next 5 years and drink well for another 5 or more.
