  • Deep garnet with tawny rim. Burnt black fruit on the nose, rubber. Quite heavy aromas. Full bodied. Botanical in the mouth, green pepper hints of eucalyptus and mint and loads of fruit. Velvety texture ink and liquorice. Long aftertaste. Much better in the mouth than on the nose. Excellent wine but for the heavy aromas on the nose.

  • This is consistently one of Greece's best reds. It was tasted blind alongside the Bordeaux 2nd labels, and though obviously different in style, it was one of the solid performers. Dark ruby turning to garnet, showing that the wine is entering its stage of maturity. Ultra-sweet nose, with ripe berries, plums and hints of menthol. Mid+ bodied and round, with soft tanins, ripe fruit and balancing acidity. Different to the 1999 that I had twice recently. Somewhat inferior, less complex and with less life ahead, but still a nice and decent cabernet sauvignon from the Drama region.
