  • Large & ripe, hints of wet stone and garigue, black fruit, mint(?). Some real complexity here, very enticing.

  • See Derek Darth Taster review for cepage. 15% alcohol (of course!), full, ripe, already accessible but will certainly last. In a restaurant, unfortunately not decanted, but open up in the glass. Wears the alcohol well and is already enjoyable will food.

  • Bosquet des Papes Zoom Tasting. Tasted in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of ripe dark red plums, rupe dark red cherries, lightly raisinated fruit, dried figs, licorice, spice box, baking spices, pepper. Developing.
On the palate, dry, juicy high acidity, high alcohol, fine high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet licorice, black + white pepper, sweet spices, ripe red cherries, dark red plums, light raisins, garrigue emerging. Long finish.
Very good quality CdP. Complex and fruity and has nice chops for ageing a bit over the next 7-8 years.
    75% Grenache, 11% Mourvedre, 11% Syrah, 3% Cinsault + others.

  • This is Grenache dominant with about 10pc each of Syrah and Mourvèdre and a small percent of a couple of the other allowed varieties. Bright garnet red, this has a lovely nose showing classic structured Grenache fruit. Deep red fruits and spice with quite good purity and definition. Juicy red fruit on the palate followed by quite grippy tannins. Pretty decent, and good value around €25. 91-92pts.

Ageing in large oak barrels for 18 Months.
I decanted the wine for 4 hours.
Medium ruby colour. Medium (+) intensity. Developing.
Dry, medium acidity, medium tannin, high alcohol, medium (+) body, medium (+) flavour intensity, long finish.
Aroma and flavour of fresh, intense and complex raspberry, cranberry, blackberry, black pepper, black tea, and some wet stones.
Very good wine, a great example of chateauneuf-du-pape. Can drink now but has a great potential for ageing.
