After reading the last tasting note from three years ago, I was ready to be disappointed but our experience was clearly much different. Cellared since release, this was a delicious mature Pinot Noir with all the nuance and richness that I would have expected from a much younger wine. Medium deep ruby color in the glass from a bottle with a perfect fill, the fruit jumped out of the glass in both nose and flavor. Plums, currants and raspberries with notes of minerality and earthiness. Very well balanced, medium to full bodied, complex, great mouthfeel and a medium to long smooth finish. This bottle could have easily gone three to four more years. 95-96

Really unique characteristics of MArcassin very easily guessed blind. Very unusual, very interesting. One of the few American wines that I think was worth 200$!! I would love to see how this thing ages, but I am sure the potential is huge. 20-30 years easily. Must try for any pinot lover!

Poured a cloudy violet. Tart raspberry fruit. Herb and red licorice. Cola middle. Finishes with a lot of heft for 13 years old. Very impressed with this wine and glad to have. This wine is right at the top of the drinking window right now. Another 5 to 7 years on this wine without a doubt. Solid wine from Marcassin.

This bottle continued to drink well and improved with air. The last glass was sublime!
