Red fruit up front with some smokiness which I interpret as oak influence as there is also some vanilla and spice. Opens up and quite mouth filling on the palate but seems to be a single note and doesn't display much complexity. Good long smooth finish. This opened up even more and showed more intensity on the second day.

From 75cl screwcap, P+P. Tried serving this at cool cellar temperature, but it didn’t really help. As previously noted, tonight it’s the mealy mouthfeel and limp, flaccid texture which prompts me to go a point lower. 87P

From 75cl screwcap. After a promisingly NZ-bright-cherry-PN-like scent, this wine unfortunately takes a nosedive. Sweet entry; the residual sugar also dominates the 13% alc on the—not quite appropriately—highly-perfumed mid-palate, which to me seems just to cry out for more acidity, concentration, minerality, grip, tannins... or something. Muddy, cloudy texture (although the wine looks clear in the glass). This feels like a pretty basic, commercial wine, not just compared to more artisanal products e.g. from Felton Road, but also to the finer, more winning bottlings of, say, Villa Maria. 88P
The CT reviews here are all over the place. No, this definitely isn't a 95/96-pointer (DaleyWine on 10.11.2021; Scott4227 on 23.10.2021) but it is correctly made and pleasant to drink. Whether it is justifiable to import it to Europe in view of the many local PN/Spätbugunder wines offered at a similar price, and of equal or higher quality, is a question well worth asking.
The wine looks ruby coloured. It has an intense nose of forest floor, sawn pine wood and cinnamon. It tastes of cherry and red plum and is well balanced with fresh acidity that lifts the mid palate before moving to a long slightly dry soft tannin finish. This wine is medium bodied with a smooth slightly silky texture. I highly rate this wine and expect it might be approaching it's ideal drinking window.
