Don’t drink new-world Pinots often but this was an unusual experience. The ripe cherry fruit was more dominant at first, with the wine becoming more restrained and earthy with air - opposite of most new-world Pinots that I have drunk before. High acidity, light structure meant for early-drinking.

When I opened, it had a funky smell. Almost a barnyard smell. It opened up to have a light berry, wet forest floor, mushroom smell. Medium bodied. Velvety texture. Almost a black tea taste. Super good. One of the best I’ve had from Eyrie.

Some reduction on the nose that blows off with about 20-30 min of air; this allows the ripe fruit to shine through with some floral and spice notes. The palate has good concentration and a lovely finish. Has good potential for aging; decant if drinking young given the reduction.

Wait, it is not corked! Don't pour it down the drain! The reduction nose was over-the-top strong and even affected the flavor. Aggressive glass aeration over an hour began to calm it. Same on two bottles. The underlying wine had definite potential, but was really unapproachable on day one. Most barnyard scents burn off in 5-10 minutes and if it goes a lot longer than that the wine is likely flawed, but with two different bottles showing the same thing I kept my faith that it would eventually dissipate. Two days later, gently poured into broad-bottom decanter and then aggressive aerated several times over an hour. Nearly all of the funk finally oxygenated and the result was a beautiful Eyrie Pinot Noir, light in color with all the complexity of earth, minerality, red berry, touch of spice and balance of fruit, acid, tannin. I have no idea where this is going, but it is really good now if you have the patience to burn off the reductive nose. 92+ Points

Really good. Nice balance of fruit and acid. Good body and nose. Holds up well to both poultry and beef. Would definitely recommend and drink again.
