  • Flower day - Decanted off fine sediment that also coated the glass. Dark garnet core out to an orange tinged edge. A delicate yet penetrating nose of dried roses, dried herbs (rosemary, oregano), warm asphalt, sweet tobacco and damp forest floor. On the palate, it’s ultra smooth with a glossy texture yet there’s fully resolved ripe tannins and medium plus acidity. The flavours are dried red fruit, red florals and dried herbs. The finish is very long and carries the dried fruit, sweet tobacco, dried herbs and ends with the red florals opening like the proverbial peacock feathers. At it’s peak I would say.

  • 5/5 - Lovely aromas, reminds me of a Barolo, floral, spice, tobacco and cherry. The tannins still have a slight edge and dryness on the finish.
This likely has a few more years in it but is lovely now.

  • Wish there was an 'I love it' button... Dark and brooding in the glass with aromas of funk, tar and ripe dark fruit. The funk continues on the palate - not Brett and not cork taint - just nicely funky - tobacco, mushroom and sous bois. Delicious and ready to go. Tannins are restrained and there's an excellent balance to the wine. Finish is only medium but that's really the only flaw - and a small one at that.

  • Medium purple color. Lightening up slightly towards the rim. First pretty muted, but opened up after a few minutes in the glass. Interesting nose of dark fruits, plums, minerals, tobacco/cigar and some flowers. On the palate, there are intense notes of tobacco, plums and some menthol/mint, as well as minerality again. Medium-full bodied with medium+ acidity and still medium, slightly drying tannin. Good length. This is not an easy-drinking wine, but it bursts with character. I love that whole mineral/tobacco/menthol thing that it has going on. And at $15-20, it's an amazing value packed with structure and soul! (91+)

  • Only moderate fruit to stand up to the strong acidity. Some earth and dark fruit. Medium finish. A good but not great wine.
