drank only slightly cool at a Lodge in the Ecuadorian Amazon. lovely rich pear, with a slight bit of vanilla coming through early. Air is kind as the fruit picks up and a little acid kicks up at the end, but I still think this is quite young. Best HL I’ve had was an 09 a year or two ago, that might be the starting point for age on these.

Impressively concentrated with ripe, rich orchard fruits and a mineral streak down the middle of the palate. Bright and energetic bead. Clearly not a big house Champagne, but also not lean/eviscerated like so many growers.

Loads of apples, tpuches of spice. A little bit of tropical note and light hint of hazelnut. Will hold on a littlw before the next one, but certainly delicious. Not sure I would have called a bdb if tasted blind- not quite the cut (not bad just observing ).

Cedric’s only Chardonnay coming from a .11-hectare vineyard planted in 2002 on five different rootstocks. My first bottle of the 2016 I’ve opened. Loads of richness from the ripe fruit that I expect from Haute Lemble. Sweet red apple, some currant, a little peach. Perfectly balanced even in it’s youth, long long finish. I’ve seen a few people call this the best version of this wine yet, time will tell but it’s certainly got a chance.

Boxing Day Tasting (Birch Road Cellar - Chicago IL): Sit down tasting. Rich orchard fruit throughout with fresh and dried fruit notes, nicely layered and complex with wonderful balance. Very good now.
