Deep gold, shade of copper. Bq very closed, hint of cellar, minerals, saltiness. Fattish, lots of saltiness, minerality. Acidity surprisingly low. Aftertaste w plenty of alcohol. Definitely over the hill.
A strange experience. While the fruit doesn't show signs of overage, the whole wine seems to have checked out!

Almost like a fino sherry. Golden and oily texture. Warm thyme and dried apricot flavours. Should have drunk 5 years ago as now past it, and this bottle merely teased me with what might have been.

A deep golden color on this wine that initially opens up with oxidized aromas, with an hour in the decanter it opens up to aromas of figs, dried apricots, oxidized green apples, honeysuckle, olive brine, almonds, flowers, and crushed stones. Creamy on the palate with some pineapple, pears, butter, with citric notes intermingled with honey on the midpalate and a long waxy finish that shows white pepper and crushed chalk. A mid to full bodied white that shows developed flavors with a touch of oxidation that acts like a condiment, quite memorable.

Chave Hermitage & Brisket (Chez Kailin - Northbrook IL): Small glass, brief note. Some caramel corn and apple. Moderate power and length. Very soft intensity, moderately interesting, but still mostly fresh.

4th bottle in last two years, and the best one yet. This is in a great place right now.
