  • This might be the best value wine I've had in the last 6 months. Just enjoyed on its own watching tv but it did nothing but impress.

This is very dark in the glass and that carries through to the nose. Notes of salted black licorice, tobacco, dark earthiness are complimented by some spice and violet and it shows SO well before we've even got to the palate.

On the palate, concentration is key here and it is here in abundance. Black cherry, eucalyptus, cassis, soil with grippy structure. This is fantastic and extremely well made from start to finish. It's expressive, its complex, and it offers so much. Bravo!

  • Another intense Beaujolais from an excellent vintage. Village designated Beaujolais of late have more and more become mouthfilling masterpieces, showing great fruit and sophistication. And they are a great value compared to most simple Bourgognes. This is a terrific example.

  • Retail $25. 100% Gamay. Under cork. This is the only "Domaines et Châteaux" that is solely owned by the Dubœuf Family and (not so?) coincidentally, it is one of my favorites. Quite dark in the glass in both color and aromas with blackberry, plum, cassis as well as dark earth, flint, and a bit of spice. Whoa. The palate is certainly fruity, but there is plenty of complexity, particularly on the mid-palate. It finishes tart, with a driving acidity and noticeable tannins. This is rather gangbusters now, but it will improve for another 5 years, easily but I am going to hold onto my other bottle for at least a decade. thedrunkencyclist.com

  • Deep and beautiful rose petal/violet color. Smoky BBQ notes and black raspberries on the nose. Deep purple and red fruits with a lovely crabapple grip on the finish. Interesting mix of light body and tannic grip; should age well for a decade.

  • This needs time - Day 1 somewhat closed, but showing depth of fruit and richness. Day 2 all blood & iron - put me off a bit. Day 3 opened up and balanced out, but young - very young. It's a powerhouse Cru Beaujolais, and needs to be laid down for 3-5 years. A serious collector would be wise to forget about these, rediscover, and then pat themselves on the back for being such savvy wine connoisseurs.
