The table was in agreement this was a grand cru performance. The wine is so rich, so much material to contemplate, and the color darker than anything else served today. Enjoyable today but give it a couple hours to breathe. Clearly has decades ahead of it.

Slightly smokey nose of cherries, dark berries, and spices. The palate is quite acidic and tannic with tart dark fruit and good length. The wine is intense and concentrated, both on the nose and the palate. I would give this another 10 years, ideally. 92-93+

Very distinctive floral nose. Very ripe and smooth, with noticeable tannins, good acidity... very structured - this will continue to age wonderfully. With some air in the mouth there is distinct pencil shaving, star anise and distinct impression of whole clusters. Great nose, great in the mouth, ripe but age-worthy, complex, very long and expansive in the mouth. Reminded me of the Burgundy equivalent of Palmer from a top vintage (e.g. 61/83). I love this vineyard and this is the best example I've ever had. Immediately sought out a case for my cellar. Not cheap, but still worth it. My style of Burgundy. Only 600-700 bottles produced. Outstanding. Drink now-2030. 95-96pts

Lavaux St. Jacques is a south-facing climat with a cool mesoclimate (especially at night); clearly a great combination in 2005. The Dugat-Py rendition is absolutely superb, soaring from the glass with a complex bouquet of red-black fruit, rich meaty soil tones and wood smoke. On the palate the wine is amazingly detailed, with excellent balance and palate-staining persistence, its serious chassis of fine tannins enrobed in fruit of great purity. 100% whole cluster.

nose - amazing nose, very mature, plummy, balsamic with farty hints. sexy
mouth - mature, rich, almost a touch oxidized for my palate, fleetingly reminiscent of vermouth and clearly this bottle (at least) is a very evolved drink now '05. While delicious, clearly a very modern interpretation of this vineyard and reminded me a tad of Vega Sicilia Unico (which either is or very much isn't a compliment)

(Lavaux St. Jacques DUGAT-PY) 2005 Dugat-Py Dear Friends, 2005 Dugat-Py is here - prices are high but they will probably continue to escalate. If 2005 Roumier Musigny is $5000 and the Bonnes Mares is $1200-1500 then these seem downright cheap. With that in mind, this is the rarest set of Dugat-Py we’ve seen since we started working with the wines - I did not want to offer them until the bottles were already in the warehouse, inspected and in hand (they are pristine). Preference will be given to support of the entire portfolio - no orders for the Pommard, Mazis, Mazoyeres and Charmes alone. Please limit requests to 6/each wine. (Not that I need to say this but, this is not C. Dugat) THIS IS NOT VIA THE GREY MARKET - these have been pristinely handled directly from the source with only one stop en-route to our warehouse: 2005 Dugat-Py Pommard “La Levrieres” Vieilles Vignes 2005 Dugat-Py Gevrey “Petite Chapelle” ” 2005 Dugat-Py Gevrey “Lavaux St Jacques” 2005 Dugat-Py Gevrey “Champeaux” ” 2005 Dugat-Py “Charmes-Chambertin” ” 2005 Dugat-Py “Mazoyeres-Chambertin” 2005 Dugat-Py “Mazis-Chambertin” - $1173.72 ” Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Burg6710 Burg6720 Burg6730 Burg6740 Burg6750 Burg6760 Burg6770
