  • Starts muted. Smells dusty and interesting. Poured in burgundy zalto. The tannins pop out immediately and this has a drying note on the palate. Some dried leather shoes on palate as well. Some pretty cherries behind that. After about 20 minutes air it is less drying and that pretty dried cherry note is coming through more. Quite Pretty and showing very well.

  • Subsequent notes on this wine from about ten years ago. Medium deep dark purple in color with slight clearing & minor bricking at the edges. Nose was initially funky, but it blew off with extended airing into a full, forward & assertive nose of ripe dark fruit aromas of cherries, plums & blueberries with smoky & tar overtones, some floral notes of roses, herbs, earthy/dusty, loam, soy, cocoa, some cedar notes & oak/vanilla in the background. Full bodied of a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums with soy, cocoa, herbs, tobacco & a hint of vanilla/oak in the background. Lingering finish. Drinks well presently with decanting & airing but at 23 years of age it is at or close to its peak of development, so drink up. This wine showed better in its youth. Fill in lower neck; cork stained 1/4 but intact.

  • After more than 20 years in the bottle I was not sure what to expect. I decanted and starting drinking after about 30 minutes. Initially it tasted closed and with licorice but it opened up very nicely with complexity and rounded tannins with berries & earthy flavors. It is probably ending its drinking window but still held up and satisfied nicely.

  • Garnet. Earthy, soft tannins, with some some ripe red fruit.
