This pours medium to light ruby in the glass with light bricking. The nose is aromatic and enjoyable but not terribly deep or complex showing red cherry, cranberry, leather, a kiss of black olive and a faint whisp of dried orange peel. The palate is bright, light and acidic with a cranberry entry turning to medium tannin and high acid. The finish is medium minus in length showing quite tart. All in all this was in good condition but I would have liked to see more complexity here. Apparently made from declassified Chave barrels. The value prop here is a bit weak for the $155 I paid on a NY wine list.

Fruit has faded and I’d encourage you to drink up if you have any (with questionable provenance). Should’ve let this sit for an hour in the decanter because it was pretty spoiled upon opening and was cajoled into some solid, aged syrah later on. Perhaps it’s the producer but this is 5-10 years past it’s prime. Not built for the long term.

No longer the beast it was in its early years, the tannin is all resolved and it’s smooth as silk on the palate. Everything is in balance and theres’s a really nice interplay of savory/meaty aromas with the pure black fruit. Great with Peking duck

Gorgeous nose of red fruit, bacon, and gaminess. Well integrated tannins with nice acidity with flavors of red fruit, olives, brine, and violets on the palate. Perfectly balanced and interesting throughout the night with a long finish. Outstanding wine and very consistent (bottle #3 within the last year).

Good but not great. Deep ruby color. Soft tannins maintains structure. Fruit is fading.
