Popped and poured. Clearly showing lots of mature, ripe fruit. Initially I thought this was past its peak, still enjoyable, but would only be interesting for 20-30 minutes. In fact, the opposite happened. Mature stone fruit flavors evolved into something with charming butterscotch and greater fruit intensity. Still fun and lush at 2+ hours.

Chardonnay Shootout (Hughes House - Chicago IL): Blind Chardonnay tasting. Sadly, this was my contribution, but this bottle was not even close to the quality level of another bottle from the same case I opened a week ago. While it was rich and almost decadent, it was also flabby with little apparent acidity. 1990 isn't a personal favorite vintage for white Burgundy for this very reason, but last week's bottle was so darn fresh!

Wineflock - Chardonnay Shootout (My house): Group #12, My #6 - a real risk for a tasting like this and unfortunately it came out last as expected, but I thought it showed quite well. Full golden yellow color. Full nose of caramel and an almost botrytis note (?). Nice on the palate - rich honeyed yellow fruit with good acidity and a touch of sweetness. Holding up well.

Burgundy Dinner at Wyncroft Winery (Buchanon MI): Ripe fruit aromas with just hints of evolving maturity. Lush, sweet and powerful on palate, Long finish with surprising acidity and freshness for the vintage.

Bright, firm wine still showcasing yellow citrus fruits. Juicy. Medium scale but a great, oily texture. Remarkably youthful. Very nice.
