Dark garnet in color with slight bricking & notable clearing at the edges. Full, forward, attractive nose of mature & developed nose of fruit aromas of cherries, plums & cassis with overtones of cedar & earthy/dusty notes, some floral notes, leather, tar, herbs & minerals. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & silky smooth textured, mature & developed ripe dark fruits of cherries, blueberries & mulberries with herbs, spices & minerals. Lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at 50 years of age but it appears to be on its descent, so drink up! An older style of Napa Cabernet which is more Bordeaux like than the current overly ripe & overly extracted, high alcohol, oak/vanilla flavored fruit bombs.

Wonderful aged Napa cab. Garnet color, light rim. Gorgeous nose, like eating berries off the vine. No tannins to speak of but wine still has enough acid to carry it through a juicy finish. Drinking very well

Enjoyed this wine with several friends...Wow! This was a 750. If I could get a case of this wine I would. It was everything you'd want an older cab to age in to. Many thought it more Bordeaux in flavor and amazingly only a 12% alcohol...something where the newer wines miss out with the higher percentages.

Birthday dinner. Started the evening off with this Burgess Vintage Select from Mag. One of two left in the cellar I inherited from my dad. This is really big stuff for an old Cali cab. The color was dark garnet with no bricking as far a I could tell. Lost of bright fruit, oak, loads of silky integrated tannins, super long finish. Got better and better over the next two hours. I think we all agreed it was the surprise of the evening. Showing so well now and agree with other reviews from a few years ago that it's not really declining. Wow.
