Opened one hour prior to drinking. Lots of stuffing here, herbal notes, bright red fruit and a hint of vegetable stew. Lots of acidity on the palate. Tannins are rustic but not aggressive. Structured and lingering.

From my warmer than textbook cellar reaching 18°C in summer with a perfect cork as corked yesterday. Garnet with no orange hue in thin layers. From the start medium intense and elegant, so nuanced nose of red currants, herbs, with swirling black fruits, dusty wood, thyme, oregano getting more intense over an hour of air (no decant). On the palate this is without any heavyness, excellent to outstanding intensity, refreshing acidity, still round but very present tannin and good length. 5/14/17/10. Though fully mature it has a long way to go, I believe. From a textbook cellar of 12°C whole year this may be quite young to fully appreciate it. But also true: After 2 hours in the partly emptied bottle it became less nuanced with dominating cherry notes and adstringency. 2023-2030 Dunnuck gave it 94 points in 2015 and a drinking window at least till 2025.

As Trevallon always seems to, this has an incredibly interesting and delightful nose. Bright redcurrant fruit and full on acidity settled down with some time in the glass and the fruits darkened and the acidity smoothed out. Interesting…..

Pausing for the Cause 2022 (Part 2) (Chicago, IL): From magnum. Yeah, it does kind of smell like cabernet and syrah. Certainly a very generous nose, which promises more than the palate has to offer unfortunately. There's a little thinness and less breadth on the palate, even though this finishes with an incredible amount of tannin. Hard to say whether more time is needed, or whether this was better a few years ago, to be honest.

Charming fresh vintage for Trevallon. Showing a little more Syrah on nose. Medium depth. Not quite sure where this one is going.
