A bouquet of black cherries, plums, and figs waft atop a bed of sous bois and desiccated leaves. Savory and earth driven in the mouth, but there is freshness and grip as well as subtle bottle age complexity. Not bad.

Deep garnet. Black cherries, dried fruits, savoury, earthy nose. Medium body and acidity. Dark fruits, figs, dried fruits, earthy flavours. I underestimated this previously. Drinking well, final bottle of case purchased en primeur.

Had been keeping this bottle for more than 10 years and finally open it tonight Dark garnet red, rustic nose with some blackcurrant, plum and spicy oak. Dry and earthy entry, slowly built up good intensity on midpalate, showing blackcurrant, cherry, leather and rustic notes. Nice medium finish with grippy tannins. A decent Bordeaux and still holding after 14 years. I expect more from a Chateau own by Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande at the time 2006 was made (it had been acquired by King Power in 2012) but agree that I cannot complain for the price I paid.

Damaged label does not show alcohol level, but I reckon 13% or thereabout. Very good dense cork with no wine penetration. Decanted an hour ahead. The colour is medium to dark, with no sign of ageing. Pretty good nose, if slightly reticent, with dark berries, even some olive (!) and fleeting notes of confectionery. The mouth is very vivid, with good grip and plenty of freshness. Vey pleasant to drink now, but could last another ten years without a bother. A vg Haut Médoc, vg value too. This property is capable of even greater things in greater vintages. A repeat purchase. As this is my 500-th tasting note on CT, I will record the fact that I have encountered exactly 3 corked bottles so far; a lucky run maybe.

As before, not really impressed, drinkable but not much too it.
Wouldn’t buy/recommend.
