Well made with lovely aromatics. Bright cherry, bitter herbs, cedar, ashes, dried beef, lots of black pepper. Well structured on the palate but there's a cloying high-toned watermelon-candy note that I associate (rightly or wrongly) with carbonic maceration that I just never like and it ruins this wine for me. It's done on purpose, so others must enjoy it, but I'd much rather have a St. Cosme for half the price.

Certainly Syrah from a cool climate, the notes are all there; black pepper macerated blackberries, plum, liquid violets, black olive, loamy earth, dried and cured meats, herbs, spices, soy sauce and hints of oak. On the palate the medium-plus frame is supported with juicy acidity, moderate tannins and a dense mid-palate. Flavors show wild picked blackberry and plums that come laced with black pepper, olive tapenade, violets, smoked and cured meat notes that leave with traces of earth, herbs and soy sauce. The finish is pleasant and lingers moderately.

Hits all the savory and medium-bodied Syrah notes one could ask for, light on its feet and a slightly ashen bitterness that we enjoy in N Rhone Syrah. Great QPR from garagiste and makes us curious about their higher-end bottlings!

Very low acid (flabby), simple. Will not be drinking another bottle.

Pnp. Dense dark fruits, spices, m+ body, supple tannins, blossom after one hour, sweet core with violet notes, integrated and smooth, very nice.
