  • dark as night, youthful and extracted rim. on the nose very ripe dark fruits which dominate any cool climate syrah or cornas notes. some background baking spice new barrique notes. on the palate moderate acids, a fleshy and rich midpalate, moderate amount of smooth tannins, moderate alcohol. balanced wine with ok length, good intensity, not much complexity. ok finesse, a fine texture, no real expression of place. tasted over 2 nights this is clearly a well made wine that is quite modern in style with minimal new oak which was super boring to me. drinks well now but should improve over the next 2-4 years.

  • Great value, would happily buy it again. Ruby-to-purple appearance and a medium intensity, wonderful nose of spice, smoke, forest floor, and maybe some black fruit. Medium high tannin and acidity, with dark plum but also a tang on the palate, maybe cranberry sauce. Medium-to-long finish. Good stuff.

  • Opaque Ruby with violet. Jammy blueberry and raspberry on the nose with classic notes of iron, cured meat, olive, black pepper and something floral that I can’t isolate. Very new world yet savory. Impressive. Not as rustic as I would have liked. Tannins are dense yet silky. Really well done, if not totally my style. Approachable now but we’ll definitely evolve nicely over the next 10 years. Lots of stuffing here.

  • 2018 Domaine Durand, Prémices Cornas
A rich, fleshy and sexy Syrah. Love Cornas!

  • Pnp. Jammy blue fruits. Meaty. Sweet tannins. Full bodied. Pretty easy drinker given it’s youth. Sort of grapey at this stage but still very enjoyable.
