Renowned stony Gimblett Gravels in Hawke’s Bay produced a concentrated and dense yet vibrant and spicy Syrah. Aged in large FR barrels for 14 months. Deep ruby colour. Intense aroma of liquorice, spiced plums, cherry jam, cassis, black pepper, smoky honts. Full body, concentrated and dense, but also energetic and fresh, rich and juicy flavours of chocolate, toast, blackcurrants, earth, fragrant violets along spicy edges, medium acidity and medium tannins.

cherry, dark berry. moderate oak influence, mostly vanilla. shy nose opened up after about an hour decanted with agitation. then white pepper, cedar. smooth but present tannins, moderate-full body. Enjoyable with or without food.

You have to take time with this wine as the freshly-cracked black pepper aroma is so overwhelming that it takes time for anything else to shine through. When it does, you're rewarded with ripe black fruits, cloves, chocolate, prunes, and smoke. It has plenty of acidity and high, grippy tannins. Nice now but will develop further.

Bright purple colour with violets and elegant raspberry. Light and with some young savouries like leather and wood. High tannins but good acid. Liquorice finish.

Deep Purple. Pronounced. Ripe/cooked black fruit. Plum, cherry, blackberries. Pepper. Violet. Vanilla, cloves, liquorice, smoke, cedar, prune, chocolate. High acidity, high tannin, ripe & smooth. Med alcohol. Med+ body. Long.
Great balance between acidity, fruit and alcohol (13,5%).
Polished style. Not overly complex at the moment, but age worthy.
NB:
Some Viognier skins.
8 months in large oak.
