  • Tasted at the Chateau. It is still too young right now, but has all the elements to become an outstanding wine with further ageing. Very well integrated and complex.

  • Väldigt fruktdrivet i stilen. Mörk mogen frukt, blåbär, kaffe, choklad, violer och lite tjära. Har trots den här kraftfulla frukten en väldigt fin syra och tanniner som nästan kan balansera upp det. Är väl maffigt i detta läge men kan mycket väl bli helt magiskt med riktigt mycket tid.
    Har druckit en del unga Pavie på sista tiden och tycker nog att oavsett årgång så är de lite för mycket. Men det är möjligt att det med tiden visar sig att de är helt rätt på det, men vi får väl se.

  • Young nose, displaying dusty gravel, green herbs, green peppers, vegetables, some smoke and dark fruit.
    Big and rich on the palate, sweet dark fruits, plums & blackberries, chocolate and some slightly jammy sweeter currants.
    A bit too sweet and on the verge of being vulgar at this point, but has some good underlying acidity and tannins that might help straighten things up with age.
    Tasted blind and I guessed 2009 Pomerol.
    Would like to try again in 10 years.

  • Requires 4-6 days to open up. After that fairly light and a bit elegant, yet with a core of very dark, slightly rough, merlot that reduces the elegance. Maybe the merlot will soften more with time? More traditional than expected, and neither big nor jammy, not even a touch of sweetness. Not what I expected from a Rolland/Parker wine.
    Tastes like a pomerol.

The World of Fine Wine

    (Chateau Pavie (St Emilion)) A slightly darker purple-crimson hue than the preceding wines, and on the nose a density of Merlot fruit which mixes the characteristics of spicy, dark-fruited cake with dried plums. Not pruney though, there is a fresh fruit character to the intensity. Great creamy presence on the start, revealing more structure through the middle, but at all times the flesh and sweetness of the wine keeps the ripe, peppery tannins at bay. Plenty of the desired acidity too, There is definitely plenty of interest provided here, and the composition is very fine. Too forceful to be described as silky but the integration of texture and tannin is still admirable. Very long, upright, structured finish too. Excellent wine.
