NSG North Virtual Tasing (Zoom / Chicago): An ethereal, deep and intense nose of spice, black cherry, earth with some stemminess too. Palate is round with suave fruit and so very Vosne in styling and flavor with delicious black cherry, tea and spice. Excellent place now. WOTN.

Nuits St. Georges 1er "Northside" Tasting (Chicagoland IL): Wow, was this an upside surprise! Dense, meaty, ripe and spicy, this showed all the hallmarks of a top notch Vosne 1er Cru from a ripe vintage. If served blind, I'd have thought 2002. WOTN.

Perfumed but heavily earth driven nose of damp soil, rustic underbrush, and brooding black cherry. Bit of cinnamon spice in there too. Herbaceous echinacea hints suggest this has plenty of time ahead of it. Lots of structure on the palate but still delivers a wallop of red berry and currant fruit. Great acidity too. Really fantastic showing here.

Wineflock - 1er Red Burgundy 1988-1998 (Bob Gaynor's): Group #3, My #2 - Full red color with crimson edges. Full nose of tight black fruit - clean and mildly bright. Slight floral notes. Big mouthful of rich black fruit with earthiness and hints of sweetness and spice. Very NSG.

Unbleached cork, spinning capsule. Deep ruby color, with nose of ripe black fruit, with substantial sweet oak overlay. Pure black and red fruits, ripe tannins, spice also with distracting sweet oak. Mouthcoating, with good delineation, complexity and layering, throughout an extended finish. Very well made wine, a crowd pleaser.
