  • One of the best bottles of wine I have had in a year.

  • Agree with Chablis28 here. Mine came off a bit syrupy-smokey, alcohol was definitely a detractor here. Chalking it off to bottle variance.

  • For me at age 16, this has peaked and will hold for a year or three but its time to drink them up, IMO. Semi translucent ruby red color with some amber on the edges. Very Burgundian and could easily pass for Gevrey Chambertin with its earthiness. There is a bit of Alc impact from the 14.5% preventing this from being a 94/95pt wine for me but, still intriguing and a great example of terroir driven PN. Lots of earth, mushroom and sous bois on the nose. The palate is very tertiary with more earthy minerality, mushroom and sous bois. The fruit is faded sour cherry and tart raspberry. If, I had one more I'd drink it by 2020 to be safe. If, I had three I might roll the dice on one and hold it till 2022-25.

  • Now, this is getting interesting :) Pretty, jewel like, semi translucent youthful ruby red color. Big spicy earthy mushroomy nose upon pulling the cork that Nita noticed from a few feet away. Carrying over to the palate are; rocky soil, mushroom, red fruit and just a hint of unwelcome but, thankfully, far from dominating cola. Gevrey Chambertin comes to mind here. Long persistent finish. Burgundian weight and class. 14.5% alc but no sense of it being that high. I own one more and will wait another 3+ years to see where this goes. Much more interesting than my 2011 btl! In great shape now but this may improve further. From vines planted in 1984 in its own exclusive AVA. Enjoyed telling my wife the Josh Jensen story of dogged determination to find Burgundian limestone in CA at a remote area 2200 ft up. A destination I need to make some day. Why, don't I own more of these???
