I'm not sure where my friend purchased the bottle, but the wine appeared and tasted twenty years older than it was. Color was hazy red cherry color. Dried red fruit on the nose. Dusty, muted red fruit on the palate.

Intense and intriguing nose including red cedar, some cool mint, spicy chai teas, vanilla extract, drying cranberry, and some cassis. Still deep and brooding on the palate with loads of fruit power: underripe red cherry and currants with nice damp earth and mineral backing. Tannins are mellowing out somewhat. Good to drink right now and still has plenty of time ahead of it.

(from magnum), nice dark fruit with good structure and balance. Surprisingly round and pretty. Not as complex or tannic as some of the more famous vintages but a solid performer and one of the better 95's i had in recent memory.

Chicago Wine Flock...Hezi's Late 90s Trip Around the World (Hezi's - HP,IL): Tasted double blind. Lighter styled red fruit aromas with faint spice. Red cherry again on palate that was just moderately appealing tonight with too much pronounced acidity for the level of fruit. Didn't come across as particularly "Piedmont" to me, but with hindsight these are wines that require prolonged cellar time.

Open and mature with dried fruits, rosehip, cranberries and sandalwood. Very accessible, tannins all softened. However, it doesn't tire even after a while in the glass. Good stuff - drink up.
