Gaja tasting, wine #9. Angelo’s father was pretty frustrated seeing his son planting a Cab in Langhe, called it a disgrace (Darmagi), but it turned out as one of the finest italian Cabs. Aged for 18 months in 30% new oak. Concentrated and dense aroma of cassis, capsicum, leather, licorice, violets, earth, black currants, plums. Full body, feels deep, dense, earthy and leathery, layers grow with time, incredible. Huge entry is balanced by firmly structured fine tannins which leads to lengthy harmonious finish.
