One of my contributions to a "Loire Chenin and Others" tasting. Deep orange-gold. Bear claw pastry w/o the icing, marmalade notes, dry, lightly oxidative but years away from expiration. Interesting!

Highly oxidized with not much on the palate. Was looking forward to it so much that I drank it anyway. I really thought this might take the aging, maybe it was the storage.

Dinner with Stephen South: Meyer-Fonne, two Huet, Trimbach, Cune, Jamet & Soldera. (Il Corso): What a nose! Smells like a bear just ripped open a bee's nest with its paw as the smell is just intense honey and honeycomb. However, as much sweetness as there was on the nose, it being a sec, there was none to be found on the palate. Dry and a bit severe, it shows plenty of honeycomb/wax and mineral, but not much else. It appears that it's reached its grumpy stage. I'd hold off for awhile. B+/B.

New Year's Eve dinner at home with Mom, Steve & Barb. A late addition to the evening's lineup, this was pulled out of Steve's bag as something to enjoy while relaxing prior to the cheese course. From 375ml, this was light yellow in the glass. This young wine was very delicate and floral, displaying aromas of fresh cut grass and hay. Nice richness and good acidity. This drinks beautifully today but has a great future. I'd love to see what happens to these Huet Sec level wines with 15-20 years of bottle age, but those are extremely rare to come by. 50+13+12+8+8 = 91+
