Versatile CDR as expected, good value. Abv is higher but I didnt notice much with salty, grilled beef tenderloin and veggies. Easy drinking. Not as smooth/fruit depth as the similarly priced St. Cosme CDR. Both are excellent values.

This is the sixth vintage of this wine I have written a tasting note on this wine over the course of fifteen years. It's my job, so I don't know what that means. You could say to me, "Perrin does not make bad wine", and I would be inclined to agree. But I might counter, excepting Beaucastel, do they make any great wines? And things being what they are, how many of their wines offer value at this point? True, I can't think of a single California Rhone blend nearly as good at this price point, but there are plenty of French or even Spanish examples. What does it all mean? It means that I am no longer as enamored with it as I once was... But then again, the price is nearly the same as fifteen years ago. How 'bout this? You could do a lot worse for $15.

Denser, darker fruit, and more alcohol than cooler vintages of this I’ve had, but still with more freshness and purity of fruit than you would expect at this price point.~5.5/10

Ripe raspberry, herbal, chocolate with some savory notes. Tart palate, with a bitterness reminiscent of orange pith and some black pepper spiciness. Better with food than as a sipper. Great QPR!

(Famille Perrin / Perrin & Fils Côtes du Rhône Villages) Medium dark red violet color; roasted red fruit, charcoal, black pepper, olive tapenade nose; flavorful, roasted red plum, pepper, charcoal, graphite palate with good balancing acidity; a very solid village Cotes du Rhône and good value under $13; medium-plus finish (14.5% alcohol; natural cork)

Black and red fruits, smoke, garrigue and dried herbs. Medium body, smooth and savory. Long finish. Good weekday wine QPR @ $14.
