I found this quite enjoyable. Nice red fruit up front with some earthy elements. Crisp acidity and dusty tannin. Medium finish . Not overly complex, but enjoyable nonetheless. Not a great QPR at $40

This is a good, decent Brunello, but it is certainly not blowing me away. On the first day it is even quite closed and lean, not giving itself. It certainly needs to breath for hours before it reveals its most pleasant sides. The second day indeed there's plenty of interesting blueish fruity flavours and some depth. Floral notes are present as well. I'm getting a hint of caramel and if you wish, licorice/tobacco traits. But for me these are still not overwhelming. Tannins provide a dry finish, that is on the short side. Somehow I was expecting more from this. Brunello, you know ...

Medium-deep reddish garnet in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, herbs, spices, minerals & a hint of cedar in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, mulberries & plums with earthy notes, spices, some herbs & minerals. Lingering dry finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing but has the fruit & structure to continue development from further aging at which time it may merit a higher score.

Retail $50. From two 20ml tiny bottles. 100% Sangiovese Grosso. Whoa. A delectable nose of black and blue fruit (plum, blackberry, blueberry) with some spice (could that be a bit of ginger), just a slight touch of oak, and an enriching vanilla. Yowza. The palate is a bit shy at first, but with some time, the fruit really comes out to play with the acidity, leading through several layers of complexity, and finishing with some drying, healthy tannins. I wondered how a bigger, bolder red would hold up in these tiny bottles but, at least with this wine, there was no reason for worry.

Found this to be one-dimensional and dominated by juicy, sweet, primary fruit. Paired better with chocolate than a pizza.
