Dry Riesling and Burgundy night (Olea, New Haven): Liked but didn't love this - this is a big wine and also shows a tinge of botrytis, with some honeyed and spicy flavours around the ripe citrus and apricot fruit here. It doesn't have the minerality or focus I typically expect from Brand Riesling - it comes across a bit sweeter (though not VT-level sweetness), but also feels a touch soft without the acidity that I'd like.

Opened at Phong Dinh in San Gabriel, CA on 12/7/14. Drank with mildly spiced Vietnamese dishes such as papaya salad, snails in curry coconut sauce, crab in tamarind sauce and baked catfish in anchovy sauce. This ZH is delicious. Smooth and well-balanced- not overly sweet. One of the most enjoyable rieslings I've had this year, for sure. Drink now.

Same as 3 years ago, only older and more effusive. The nose seems subdued, but the length is extended and slightly bitter. Notes of orange tropical fruit and bitter melon and not-so-bitter melon. Quite good.

Clear yellow/gold. Petrol, stone, dried apricot. Rich slightly sweet apple and dried apricot flavours. Rich almost dry finish.
