Three hour decant. Very very deep magenta color (apparently no mega purple). Blackberry, boysenberry syrup, angel food cake, cherry blossom, and Earl Grey tea. Dry palate, with vibrant (almost effervescent) acidity. Firm, velvety, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish.
This is nice, serious, and already very interesting for a ‘19. The fruit is a touch sappy at the moment. There’s a nice chocolatey vein that snnuck in over an hour of drinking. Looking forward to the next bottle a year or two from now.
I was not expecting this level of complexity at this point, really exceptional bottle.. packed with black and blue fruit, a great long lasting mid and finish. So glad i have a few more to try over the years... going to try and keep my hands off for a bit.. maybe a year or two.. as think there are better things to come with this!!!
Wow, my first Outpost and this was truly exceptional. Yes, it is very ripe but handled in a perfect wine and balanced by so much fresh herbs and acidity. Exceptional balance from start to the long finish. One of the best young Californian wines I’ve had in a long time.
TN: Very intense nose, expressive ripe cassis, dark red berries, minty notes and crushed rocks. Ripe but still with a good balance here. Wow, great on the palate. Ripe dark fruit, so much cassis, some blueberries, lots of minty and eucalyptus notes, even some medicinal notes, minerality. This has it all. This is how you handle Cab in a hot, ripe climate with so much freshness and lightness: Superb balance and harmony, ultra fine tannins, lots of tension, high freshness, airy texture but with that sensual touch. A complete wine and one of the winners of the tasting.
Decanting: Aerated in the glass for 45+ minutes which seemed fine.

Tasted at the Matter of Taste Zurich, Top Rated Wines of 2022 Masterclass. From Howell Mountain, 600-700m elevation hence rather high up. Sweet with a big load of gingerbread, Christmas spice and red and black currant fruit. Vibrant acidity on the palate with a more fresh type of berry fruit. Joe Czerwinski also found pine needle elements that typically speak to Howell Mountain. Delicious, alluring, bold yet precise wine. One of the best 2019 Napa Cabs I’ve tasted so far.
Matter of Taste 100 Point Master Class: During a MOT Masterclass. Excellent Napa CabSav that marries ripe fruit without going overboard. Dark fruit, pine, eucalyptus, sweet spices. Fresh and elegant for its warm site.
