Deep dark purple, almost black to the edge, nose of casis, leather, cacao, cola, oak and cigar box. Medium weight, oaky notes almost balanced with red and black fruit flavours and a little cola with pomegranate notes matching the acid and nice coating tannins. Strong, quality oak use contributes vanilla and cedar flavours on the finish... nice and many years ahead. Easily 5-10.

Rhone style Syrah with great intensity - plenty of black fruit, some five spice and a cough lozenge thing. At around 30 quid, excellent value. Air though, at least a couple of hours.

A lovely wine. Well balanced, a good body, dark fruit, subtle wood, smooth tannins, a fine line of acid to indicate it will cellar for a long time to come and excellent length. Now I understand why it it is so popular. 94 :)

Expensively oaked with cool, concentrated blackberry fruit, relatively subtle black olive, peony and wild herbs. It says Shiraz on the label but it's a Syrah in style, and with mega acidity and serious tannins I think it needs another 5 years at a bare minimum. It should get better and better, and for something this serious and ageworthy it represents excellent value
