  • Prior note holds in terms of the modern style with a firm tannic backing. It also seems to have emerged from an awkward period and after a few hours open drinks great. Ripe red berries, vanilla, espresso, nutmeg and rose water. Extraction is modern but tannic structure is old world. This has a few more years to go until it peaks.

  • Not quite ready for prime time even with several hours air. It’s high quality but the wood treatment still overpowers. Extracted berries, vanilla, pine sap, rose, sage, tar and wood. Full bodied and modern. Nonetheless it’s very good now but just not top tier for the price.

  • P'Aquí P'Allá; 10/7/2022-10/17/2022 (Alicante y Madrid - España): By the glass. Do not look for this winery within the honor roll of traditionalist producers. Intense nose with an evident lack of harmony when offering notes of rose petals and tar. Seriously extracted on the palate, aspect that is reinforced in a cuvée of old vines like this. Nevertheless it is tasty and well long. Many doubts about its future because it seems ready right now. Perhaps it is the least modern of the wines in the winery. At least they say so.

  • Annual Pilgrimage to Piedmont - 2022 Edition; 10/14/2022-10/16/2022 (Piedmont, Italy): 2 very consistent beautiful bottles of what we are told is the last vintage under the label.
More Classic , a lot less modern than the old vintages , tar, cherry, soft use of oak here and this is exactly the right balance of modernity and classicism in one bottle of a wine. Easy 93 and drinks very well now but with lots of future. 93

  • tasted blind
nose - visne (sour cherry), beautiful nose
mouth - rich with dark prune fruit and huge tannins led me to guess Nebbiolo. The Turin contingent, however, could not countenance that a wine of that dark color could possibly be nebbiolo. And when revealed, they speculated that it had been adulterated with other varietals. 'They did that in Barolo 20 years ago'.
