The 2020 iteration of Château Olivier is an opaque crimson blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot. Serially tasted over a three-hour period from a bottle that had been decanted through a Vinturi aerator, it flaunts an aromatic profile of dark bramble fruits, black cherries, licorice, tree bark, tobacco and bittersweet chocolate. Medium-bodied, fresh and without any heat from its 14.7% alcohol, it delivers flavors mirroring the aromas, adding a judicious dollop of spicy oak. Although plentiful, the tannins are silky-smooth, resulting in a dense yet soft-textured mid-palate and an equally seamless, lengthy finish. As good as this is now, it will benefit from a bit more time in the cellar. If you do choose to pop the cork now, give at least two hours of air. Drink 2026-2040.

The color is deep purple with purplish reflections. The nose is intense and complex with notes of black fruits such as blackcurrant and blackberry. A hint of spice with pepper as well as a presence of very beautiful floral notes of violet and rose. The attack on the palate is clean and ample. A pronounced and crunchy aromatic intensity that gives us the impression of biting into small black berries. A nice acidity which boosts the tannins which are present but already melted, which gives a nice balance. The finish is fresh, persistent and very elegant. To be enjoyed from 2026 until 2045.

Black plums, smoke, licorice, orange zest, and flowers pop in the nose with no trouble. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, round, silky and fresh, with a finish that leaves you with nuances of dark chocolate, espresso and more of those, sweet, ripe, black, juicy plums. Drink from 2024-2040.

Sehr gelungen. 2025-2038+ (Verkostet am 8. November 2022 in Zürich) www.vvwine.ch
