  • Approachable! There is structure here and the tannins are lovely but it’s a bit hard to see as the ripe fruit and floral elements are to the fore. Lovely but not blown away by my first taste of this producer. 4

  • Pip. Sweet cherry, Strawberry, licorice, sandal wood, dry tannins and well balanced acidity. Love it:)

  • An incredible Barolo. To me this wine clearly shows how the 2018 vintage is open for business already now. Such a fragrant nose with explosive notes of cherries, spices, roses, minerality, and seductive sweetness. Tasted up against the Bartolo 2018. This one was the winner.
I did prefer it straight out of the bottle.

  • The ‘18 Tre Tine is a super classic young Barolo. Like the Brunate, this is a nice success in the difficult 2018 vintage, but I find a bit less early appeal in the Tre Tine. This isn’t an early drinking ‘18, but rather a wine that begs for 5-10+ years in the cellar.

On the nose, I found a good mix of primary fruit and savory notes, with smoky, sweet red berry fruit, red roses, roasted meats, tobacco, and anise. On the palate, the wine is medium to light in body, showing the leanness of the vintage. However, the flavor profile still packs a punch with sweet red berries, fresh rose petals, and savory meaty notes adding a bit of complexity. The fruit is sweet and beautiful, but overall the wine is tight, not showing a lot of complexity yet. Meaningful, classic tannin appears on the back end, but the tannins are fine grained and so the wine is quite drinkable in terms of texture. Medium to high acidity, nice sweetness and density of fruit, and the classic tannic structure suggests this is a wine that should age nicely.
