Dark ruby, fairly translucent. The nose is lovely: brambles, smoke, a hint of cherry liqueur. The palate is full but very elegant. I'm remind, in terms of texture and body, of a great Northern Rhone red - a Hermitage or even Cote Rotie. The aromatic impact is similar too, though of course the aromas and flavours of Bonarda are very different to Syrah. A touch if heat on the long, lip-smacking finish. (I'm guessing quite high acidity to balance the sweet fruit, though those elements are inseparable. As are the retrained and very fine tannins.) I've been trying to weigh up which is the greatest Bonarda I've encountered. For a while I've narrowed it down to either this or Nieto Senetiner's Partida Limitada. I reckon the Perdices wins out, just, due to more restrained use of oak. Whether that's a lasting opinion or not, time will tell. For the moment, I'm confident in saying this is a truly outstanding wine. 14%, cork.

Ruby red, bright with hint of brown from oak (50/50 french/US) Visibly strong and syrupy at 14%. Deep red fruits and gentle spice on the nose. Strong yet balanced mouth, with fine tannins. Good balance of dark cherry fruit and oaky vanilla with a very good length and spicy finish. Black Forest gateaux/cherry chocolate liqueur feel. This is one smooth, balanced drink.
