I forgot about my note last month to not open the next of these for a while and regretted it. This initially came across as much oakier than I expect with Carlisles, partly the contrast after finishing off the last glass of a very different wine, and partly a reminder of why I thought I should give these more time. Better day 2. Wait or decant.

Nose of black raspberry, apple blossoms and a slight meaty hot dog note. Polished palate delivers a mouthful of blackberry pie, blueberry, vanilla crème, wet teabag, and tree bark. Chewy, supple tannins deliver a dry finish with birch bark, ginger root, black raspberry, and firm, fat oakiness. I'd like to give the finish a littler more time to develop. Drink 2025-2031

First bottle of this vintage. Good but not as good as these usually are. Not sure if the bottle, the vintage, or too early but I’ll wait a bit before opening another one.
