new and aged Rhones: golden straw and somewhat viscous. heady nose of ripe mango and pineapple with fresh herbs and white blossoms. delightfully creamy in texture and framed by fresh acidity and clean minerality, the flavours of stone fruit, red apples, citrus flesh glide over the palate with clarity, intensity, and a minty freshness. very long with herbal and spice accents.
balanced, absolutely lovely and incredibly accessible now, but without doubt, a wine whose best days are a decade away.
15% AbV (well integrated); 85% Marsanne/ 15% Roussanne from four different lieu-dits (Rocoules, Hermite, Péléat, Maison Blanche); 100% new oak fermentation and ageing for twenty-four months

A Rhône Rapture (K&L Wine Merchant - San Francisco): Aromas of tropical notes, displaying sliced pineapples, whole and halved ripe mangoes, and a field of tall dried straw. There’s a bit of weighty creaminess but doesn’t go overboard, thanks to the help from clean bitter minerals that provides an awesome cut through it.
Palate showed inviting fruits, a bitter and clean minerality that washes over the fruits, dried earth and straw. Much lighter than the '19 I’ve had, not as oily and weighty. I asked if this was double decanted back into the bottle and was told no, just popped and poured. Yhis '20 is much more approachable now.

Premium Rhône Tasting (K&L Wines, San Francisco): Medium yellow. Medium weight, not at all oily. Beautiful ripe peach and citrus with a deep soil base and excellent acidity. Elegant, long, and tons of potential.
