At the winery last year, Guido told us that he's selling most of his wine now to North Berkeley, so expect prices on this heretofore v. fairly priced little gem to skyrocket.
Opened this '09 two days before we drank it, which is a good idea, and it's in so many ways prototypical nebbiolo -- tar & violets, and lightness and intensity all at once. Day two still going strong. Such a delight to drink. Anybody in the Barbaresco area should call ahead and buy some of Guido's wines before the North Berkeley hype machine destroys the qpr aspect of these long-lived, organic, elegant wines.

Tannic and super dry but accessible after 4 hours open in bottle. Overall pretty sweet with dried cherry, candied raspberry, tobacco, and vanilla extract. Herbaceous finish with slight forest floor. Need a few more years for tannins to soften.

Compared to the 2010 richer and more sweet fruit on the nose, maybe even slightly jammy. More forward but still quite tannic and firm, good length. 89-91+

Uplifting and quaffable whilst still being a wine of substance.
Feels luscious in the mouth with it’s vanilla body and then it’s utterly tannic and dry on the finish but alluringly, enjoyingly so.
Good stuff.

Delicious. Hefty in the mid palate, energetic on the finish. Drink or hold
