  • Bottom neck fill. Remarkably only bricking at the edge, still holding onto that dark garnet color. A big California Cabernet yet only 12.5% alcohol, full bodied, marvelous dark fruits, plums, earthy notes, saturated black cherry on the smooth finish. What a treat. Gently decanted.

  • Definitely still has the wow factor. Over 35 years old and there is still lots of fruit. The wine has a beautiful garnet color, only slightly was it breaking down on the edges. Decanted and had over a 2.5 hour dinner. It was incredible.

  • This was shared with a group of fellow scientists at a Gordon Conference, so no detailed notes, but it was extraordinary. I have a handful of Diamond Creek wines, but I'm mostly priced out of buying any more, so this is the first one I've tried. I hate to further feed into the hype, but you can see how special these are when you taste one that is on, like this was. Very Bordeaux like, with cassis, cedar, some leather and earth, and minerals. So youthful and complex, and aging very gracefully. A wow wine for sure.

  • A perfect old Napa Cabernet. Tannins melted away, flavors of plums, liquid Cabernet fruits, long and saturated.

  • Subsequent notes on this wine from over seven years ago but this time from a 1.5. Deep dark garnet in color with some clearing at the edges. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe dark fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of cigar box notes of cedar & tobacco, spices, herbs, some floral notes, dusty/earthy, leather, minerals, a hint of mint & undertones of oak/vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, complex, ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries, boysenberries & plums with spices, herbs, minerals, cocoa & hints of cedar. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing but has the fruit & structure to continue at this current plateau longer although at 35 years of age, any further development might be minimal. Fill was at bottom edge of neck; cork was slightly stained but intact.
