This is in a great place right now, paying dividends for its 7 years in the cellar. It's fashionable to criticize this vintage and complain it's cracking up, but whatever those people are tasting, there's no sign of it whatsoever here. This is still young and crackling with chiseled acidity, the fruit complexion somewhat deepened in tone but still florescent. It combines flavors of pears and more luscious tropical fruits like bananas with a pleasantly bitter, peppery edge.

pale gold. Nose was a huge mix of spring flowers, vanilla, citrus. oily mouthfeel with citrus and floral accents. Very good and grows on you. But be forewarned-14% alcohol

Steinertals at Seasonal (Seasonal, NYC): This is a powerhouse. The fruit here isn't as ripe as in the '09, but it seems more packed with material - denser, juicier and thicker texturally, with layers of ripe Grüner fruit, verdant greenery and a pungent white pepper seasoning. There's incredible depth here but fantastic balance as well, and I'd love to revisit this after a few more years.

Steinertal Vertical (Seasonal): Interesting, if I hadn't had this a few years ago I would have assumed that it's not showing any development, because it tastes very, very, very similar to the 2009 (but without that banana thing going on in the 2009). But in comparison to my bottle a few years ago this is showing much more of its structure and now has serious gravitas.

Excellent. Very forward, big ripe fruit. A bit hot and heavy on the tail end, just noticeably so. Not horribly intrusive, but there. Delicious, though. Wonder how it will age, as big as it is?
